Mountain geography as a contemplative context
Nepal’s Himalayan landscape offers practical conditions for reflective practices: variation in altitude, pace, and seasonal rhythm that supports long-form attention and seasonal programming.

Nepal Taoist Association
A transparent, foundation-stage initiative for Taoist learning in Nepal — and a public reference library on the tradition it draws from.
Purpose-first development for a real community presence.
01 / What this is
This site presents a planning framework rather than a finished institution — our current intent, our practical boundaries, and our next actions.
Alongside it we publish a reference library on Taoism itself: its texts, concepts, lineages, deities, and sacred geography. The two are kept separate on purpose, so a reader never mistakes our plans for the tradition’s record.
Read the charter and decision rules02 / The tradition
A public library of checkable entries. Nothing in it is an association claim.
Beyond its role as an ethical or practical guide, the Tao names the ultimate ground of reality itself — ineffable, prior to all distinction, yet the source from which the differentiated world of the 'ten thousand things' continuously emerges.
The central Taoist principle of non-forcing, non-striving, acting in alignment with circumstances. Not passivity but action that flows from deep attunement to the Tao.
The dynamic complementary forces underlying all existence. Not simple opposites but interdependent, containing each other, eternally flowing between states. More subtle than Western understanding.
03 / Why Nepal
Nepal’s Himalayan landscape offers practical conditions for reflective practices: variation in altitude, pace, and seasonal rhythm that supports long-form attention and seasonal programming.
The spiritual, educational, and civic setting supports respectful cross-dialogue between contemplative traditions and modern civic planning.
Many local organizations already operate through volunteer and volunteer-education models, enabling pilot pathways that are grounded and manageable.
Nepal can host both in-person and remote participation models with a practical bridge between local and international participants.
04 / Programs
Bi-weekly
Foundational reading and discussion sessions with shared facilitation notes, translated terms, and practical reflection prompts for first-time learners.
Monthly
Silent and reflective retreat modules combining breath work, movement, ethics dialogue, and journaling windows.
Rolling
Structured support for translating core concepts through approachable phrasing and bilingual facilitation workflows.
Quarterly
Workshops linking contemplation with stewardship and local ecological observation practices.
05 / How we plan progress
Each phase has a stated outcome and a public review point. We are committed to reviewable movement, not an image-first launch.
Define mission, values, and operational clarity while staying intentionally transparent.
Run 3 to 5 test pathways, gather notes, and refine methods.
Create stable operating docs and shared partner handbooks.
Build wider collaboration programs with partner stewardship and local leadership development.
Train local facilitators and create replacement-ready processes.
Document what changed, what failed, and what is next in public review notes.
Archive learning so future teams can inherit clearly documented principles and decisions.
