1. Who We Are and Legal Status

The Nepal Taoist Association (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an educational and cultural foundation-stage platform headquartered in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. We are dedicated to classical Taoist scholarship, contemplative practice, and cultural preservation.

2. Our Ethical Standard: Data Minimization

In accord with the Taoist virtue of simplicity (Jian, 儉), we collect only the minimal data strictly necessary to communicate with you and coordinate study activities. We do not sell, rent, monetize, or broker your personal information to any third party under any circumstances.

3. Information We Collect

Direct communications: When you send an email to our contact addresses or express interest in practitioner tracks, study circles, or institutional partnerships, we receive your name, email address, and the content of your message.

Pre-registration & participation details: If you apply to join study sessions, meditation retreats, or collaborative programs, we may ask for your learning interests, language preferences, and relevant background.

Standard technical logs: Our reverse proxy and hosting infrastructure record standard, transient HTTP request logs (IP address, HTTP method, URL path, timestamp, and user agent) for DDoS mitigation, error diagnosis, and server security. These logs are not linked to identifiable profiles.

No tracking cookies: This website sets no advertising, tracking, or marketing cookies, and embeds no third-party surveillance or cross-site tracking scripts.

4. AI Processing Disclosure

To assist our small volunteer coordination team in reviewing inquiries, reading suggestions, and partnership scopes, incoming text messages may be summarized or classified using secure API access to artificial intelligence services (such as Anthropic or OpenAI).

Any data processed in this manner is transmitted solely via encrypted, zero-data-retention enterprise API endpoints. Your submissions are never used to train public machine learning models.

5. Legal Basis & Compliance

Our data processing complies with the Individual Privacy Act, 2018 (2075 B.S.) of Nepal. For international visitors, we align our processing standards with the principles of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), relying on your explicit voluntary consent and our legitimate non-profit educational interest.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Inquiry correspondence and pre-registration records are retained only for the duration of an active dialogue or study program. Inactive inquiries are purged or irreversibly anonymized within 24 months. You may request immediate deletion of your contact history at any time by emailing connect@nepaltaoism.com.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate details, or request that your records be deleted from our archives. We will honor verified requests promptly without fees or barriers.
